Artist's Talk at Photoforum Pasquart in Biel
Céline Burnand in conversation with Nadia Radwan
17 November 2021 - 18:00-19:30
On the occasion of Céline Burnand’s monographic exhibition, the Photoforum Pasquart is organising a talk with the artist and Nadia Radwan, assistant professor of world art history at the University of Bern, who specialises in modern and contemporary art from the Middle East. A tour of the exhibition with the artist will be followed by a discussion centred on the themes of nostalgia, belonging and memory, navigating between scientific research and emotion. It will address questions such as: to what extent are nostalgia and belonging linked to the subjectivity of artists or researchers? Which audiences are affected by these notions? Does the exhibition space or the audience’s experiences change their meaning? The artist and the art historian offer a cross-examination of these notions which concern their respective research and practices and which are at the heart of the discourse on contemporary art today..
