LECTURE

“Le portrait du Docteur Tholozan dans la collection persane de Jean Pozzi : une brève histoire de la France en Iran entre 1858 et 1937”

Negar Habibi, Art History Unit, University of Geneva

6.3.24, 12:15-13:45, University of Geneva

A diplomat may have many hidden talents, including a passion for the arts of the countries where they are sent on a mission. This makes them even more interesting, as they can share daily stories and exchanges with their counterparts and fellow citizens staying in these countries and showcase their art collection that reflects their diplomatic spirit.

Negar Habibi teaches in the History of Art Unit at the University of Geneva. Since 2021, she has been deeply immersed in researching Jean Pozzi and his collection of Persian and Islamic art. This extensive research now serves as the foundation for her second monograph and is on the brink of earning her an Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HdR) in France.

She will present a part of this research in the lecture series "Du chef-d'œuvre à l'objet commémoratif : une histoire de la diplomatie culturelle des pays du Moyen-Orient," organised by Silvia Naef and Joan Grandjean at the University of Geneva.
